I am not sure of the exact time.
Perhaps there is no exact time. Maybe it depends on the place. But at some point, just like the rest of us, no matter how big, or the amount of energy or wealth it possesses, the City gets sleepy.
I love sleepy time in the City.
The flaws dissolve. The crowds dissipate. Traffic disappears. But the buildings remain. In fact, in many ways, it is their moment to shine.
I say that to you while sitting here staring at the Parthenon, that dazzling edifice perched at the top of the Acropolis, and. . . sigh.
Can a building be more beautiful? Could it be more magical?
Yes, it can.
At night, bathed in light, like a beacon it calls to us.
“Look at me”, it says, “Am I not breathtaking? Are you not inspired?”
I sometimes ponder if the architect and builders of this Wonder ever thought, in their wildest dreams, that thousands of years after they built this masterpiece of human achievement, someone would still look at it in Awe, as the City tucks in for the night, and toasts to their triumph.
Cheers!
Well done.
