The two dragonflies dart here and there appearing to chase one another.
They are of a shade of iridescent blue like I have never seen before. They are performing some sort of ballet with the river as their stage and the sound of the water as their orchestra.
Hovering and then zooming off. Just skimming above the water but never actually touching the surface.
Their view of the river is unrivaled.

The walkway I am standing on wouldn’t exist in the United States.
It is perched perhaps a foot above some seriously moving water.
The river tumbles and shoots from a rapid to a waterfall to a rapid in an endless series of cascades and pools. It’s just you on the path and the water below.
There are no guardrails. Nothing prevents you from tripping and ending up in the drink. Or dropping your phone in.
Children run along the sides. Women push baby strollers. People stop in mid-step to take selfies. It’s crowded, but nobody falls in.
Slowly I realize that without guardrails, my view of the river is completely unobstructed.
Nothing prevents me from leaning over to see the markings on the fish lurking below or dipping my toes in. I am walking on water.
I have become the dragonfly.
None of this should have even happened.
My daughter suggested we do more than just walk around Split, Croatia, so I did a last-minute search of tours and came across a “Waterfalls and Wine” tour.
An hour and half from Split lies this side of Majesty.
I had never even heard of KrKa Waterfalls. It is the sort of beauty that removes any doubt about the existence of a higher power.
Man creates beautiful things. Nature humbles.
If you ever come to Croatia, don’t miss it. And the wine is pretty amazing too.
