Magic Time

Are you willing to suspend disbelief? Or, more accurately, do you believe in magic?

I watched and listened as many people of various nationalities become mesmerized by the young French magican working his space next to my table.

The crowd alternated between suspicion and amazement as he worked his slight-of-hand. At the end, though, they all appeared to leave as believers in his magic powers.

Holzmarkt

Sitting in Holzmarkt, which appears to be almost a little Potemkin-like village of food, beer, wine, music, and delight on the edge of the Spree River in Berlin, I sipped my hefeweizen quietly.

He seems earnest. He’s definitely engaging. He wants to show you his magic. He wants you to believe. . .

You know he is just tricking you. He is distracting your eyes with one hand while fooling them with the other. Nonetheless, no matter how you try to catch him in the act, you can’t seem do it.

It’s okay to believe in magic. You never know.
