Where have they been hiding this enchanted land?
I’m not sure what I expected, but it wasn’t waterfalls, fjords & remarkablely expensive liquor.
Started in Bergen, a lovely town, it reminded me of the set of Northern Exposure, the TV show set in Alaska.
We took a ferry ride around the fjords, rode a scenic train where a lady in a red dress suddenly appeared singing opera next to the waterfall. Strangely intriguing.
Hiked in the mountains around the town. Very handy cable car brought you up there and back.
All the workers in the supermarket looked liked supermodels.
The liquor is priced super expensive to apparently prevent people from drinking themselves to death during the long, dark winter. Fair strategy, but they should lower it during the short summer with daylight that goes on to 11 pm. Just saying.
Finished up in Oslo. Very Scandinavian post-modern look.
Overall, a pleasant surprise.
