My God, I think I have solved the homeless (aka, unhoused mental health-substance abuse victim) crisis in America.
The average cost in California for providing services per homeless person is $130,000.
What if we just buy them all used golf carts, fix them up with a built-in tent, potty, many hooks for all their bags, and other accoutrements?
Perhaps even let the rough campers select a few fun add-ons (spot for cardboard “God Bless” sign and associated used Starbucks coin cup, or a mount for their fake “Help a Veteran” bumper-stickered wheelchair), or have a few suicidal empathetic aspiring artists do a little decoupage on each Urban Assault Vehicle. You know give them a little flair!
It keeps all their stuff contained. No more pushing those awkward Food Lion shopping carts around. Definitely provides a faster getaway from the Po-Po. Up off the ground.
It would force us as a society to add more electric chargers.
From the tourist perspective, it just looks like the resort island they flew in from (provided you don’t get too close).
From the local POV, we can geofence them away from parks, playgrounds, and schools.
Anyway you look at it, it’s gotta be cheaper than $130,000 a person. 🤔
